My family and I were at the River the
night before, and by the grace of God did
not go on Sunday, due to our son having a
sore throat. As a member of the Meldrim
Methodist Church, we lost over ten members
of our church family that day.

I really liked your web site. Since I
moved to this area, I have always been
curious about the "Meldrim Train
Wreck" but never asked to many
questions for fear of bringing back sad
memories for those who lost loved ones.
Your web site very nicely pays homage to
their memory and honors them. I also
appreciate the church sites with calenders
for up-coming events. Keep up the great
work. Bonnie

articles and pictures of the terrible
tragedy of 1959.

I very much remember the 1959 train wreck.
I had just graduated from H.V. Jenkins
High School earlier that month. I am now a
resident of Pooler. In 1959 I lived in
Southside Savannah, very near Hunter AFB.
