Albert H. Allen

2003 Effingham County Sports Hall of Fame Inductee

He graduated from Clyo Consolidated High School in 1942.

He played basketball, baseball, and track in high school.

He received the Athletics Award when he graduated.

He was captain of the baseball and basketball teams.

Clyo organized a baseball team in 1947, he played third base and shortstop on this team.

While still playing with Clyo, he also played with the Effingham Crackers which was organized in 1951 and played in the Savannah River League.  He played third base for the Crackers.

He played baseball until the  North Effingham County Church softball league was organized in 1961.  He played softball on the Laurel Hill Lutherans church teams for a number of years.

He was married to Edna Neidlinger Allen and has 3 children, and 6 grandchildren.

He died on June 3, 2001
