Started Little League baseball in Effingham County along with 3 other people in 1956, and I am very proud of this. Coached little league baseball in 1956-58 and won county championship 2 years.

Coached pony league baseball in South Carolina League and never lost a game that year and placed 7 players on the all star team.

Coached pee wee baseball in Springfield in 1968.  Coached pee wee baseball in Chatman County in 1970 and won the championship. Coached little league baseball in Springfield in 1973.  He also helped revive baseball in Guyton in 1954.

He wrote many letters to state officials to try and get some help with our recreation department.  In 1974 they sent a survey crew to see what Effingham County had in the way of sport facilities. I rode 2 days with them and at the end they said we did not have anything and at that point I turned it over to the County Commissioners. I did recommend your present day director because he was the only one that was qualified and this was a part time job.

I’m the only dad that ever had a young man or son to go to the major leagues from Effingham County.

He belongs to the Guyton Christian Church.  He was a past deacon, elder, Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher.

He has 2 children and 4 grandchildren.
