Alton “Red” Davis

Alton was born on January 26, 1938, to Jeff and Sally David of Egypt, Georgia.  At the age of 5, they moved to Guyton where he attended school until I graduated in 1956 from the Guyton High School.

During my high school years I played and lettered all 4 years in basketball playing both center and forward.  My class voted me most athletic.  My high scoring game was December 9, 1956, against Springfield High School scoring 45 points.

At the age of 14, I played my first competitive baseball game with the Guyton town team.  I played on the Morris Electric Supply team formed by Guerry Morris through 1956 and also played softball in the county church league until he joined the U.S. Navy I 1957, serving 4 years until I was honorably discharged in 1961. Upon his return from the military he resumed playing in the county church league from 1961 until 1973.

Alton currently lives in Savannah and he is married to Wyllette Davis.  They have two children, Dr. Joseph A. Davis and his wife Katie of Macon and Audrey W. Davis of Savannah and 2 grandchildren.  Alton have 3 daughters from a previous marriage, Karen Farmer of Guyton, Cindy Wolf of Rincon and Beth Stapleton of Savannah and 7 grandchildren.
