• Member of the Springfield Athletic Association Board of Directors
• Assisted with the formation of all Little League Teams
• Verified birthdays of all players from Pee Wee League on up
• Coached Little League from 1961-1967
• Instrumental in getting lights for Ulmer Park in Springfield
• Regularly assisted in getting the field ready for games
• Member of the Georgia High School Basketball, Baseball, Softball Association of Referees and Umpires
• Refereed and Umpired in several counties for high school and recreation department games
• Umpired baseball at Georgia Southern University
• Played baseball for: Springfield and Pineora adult baseball leagues, Savannah River League baseball and Georgia/Carolina baseball league
• Played basketball for Effingham Academy and Savannah Sugar Refinery

• Retired from Savannah Sugar Refinery in 1990 with 38 years of service
• Wife: Juanita Carr Edwards- Nurse with Springfield Medical Associates

• Daughter: Karen E. Seckinger- teacher at Springfield Elementary School

• Son: Del Edwards- P.E. teacher at Durham Middle School in Kennesaw, Georgia
• Grandchildren: Paul Seckinger, Justin Seckinger, and Katie Seckinger (deceased)
• Great-Granddaughter: Morgan R. Seckinger
