He was born
James S. (Jimmy) Kessler was born in Effingham County and lived in Rincon, Georgia. He was the son Paul H. Kessler and Alma Kessler.
His sisters were Victoria Rought, Dora Kessler, Geneva Farrar, Hazel White, and Martha Johnson. His brothers were Arte Kessler, Claudy Kessler, and Joseph Kessler.
He was never married.
He graduated from Rincon High School.
He played 4 years of baseball, softball, track and basketball. In basketball he was played guard. While there he learned to swim.
He was a very good hitter in baseball and softball.
He was a remarkable baseball player as a hitter and outfield especially since he had only one good arm. Played with the Rincon Town team in Effingham County Baseball League. He helped with the Effingham County league baseball team.
