Linda Faye Clifton

2005 Effingham County Sports Hall of Fame Inductee

 

Played varsity basketball from 1964 - 1968.

Lettered in Basketball all four years.

Was first player to score 1,000 points in basketball at ECHS.

Was chosen to "Class A" All State Tournament Team in 1968 Was chosen as "Most Outstanding Forward" in State Tournament, averaging 27 points per game.

 

 

Played basketball for Effingham County Recreation Department where Guyton Team finished in lst place in 1969-1970 and 1970-1971.

 

Played Recreation Slow Pitch Softball from 1963 until 1982. 

Won Georgia ASA Slow Pitch State Tournament in 1973.

Won numerous "Most Valuable Player" awards in Softball tournaments played in Georgia, South Carolina, Florida and Alabama.

Won numerous "Highest Batting Average" awards in Softball tournaments to include the Fountain City Slow Pitch Invitational in Columbus, Ga, where I had a .760 average.

Won South Carolina ASA Slow Pitch State Tournament in 1982.

Coached Thompson's 12 and under Girls Slow Pitch Softball Team in 1983 - 1985.

Now play numerous charity Golf Tournaments throughout the coastal empire.

Volunteer with "The Legends" Golf Tournament held at the Westin.

 

Have been employed at Memorial Health University Medical Center since 1974.  She is currently manager for Peri-Operative Inventory Department.
