C. M. (Mac) Weaver
2004 Effingham County Sports Hall of Fame Inductee
C.M. (Mac) Weaver attended Effingham Academy in Springfield. While in high school, Mac played three years baseball, three years basketball and ran track for three years. In 1945, he ran the 880 yard run, winning first in the county, first in the district and third in the state. In 1946 he ran the 880 yard run, winning first in the county, first in the district and third in the state. In 1946 he also ran on the 880 yard relay team with his team winning first in the county, first in the district and first in the state. In 1947, he ran the 440 yard run winning first in the county, first in the district and first in the state. He also ran on the 880 yard relay team winning first in the county, first in the district and first in the state.
Mac also participated in Effingham County sports playing baseball for 15 years in the outfield, and playing softball for 19 years in the outfield. He also played eight years of basketball as a guard.
Mac was also a little league coach for seven years between 1960 and 1970.
Mac also played baseball one year with the American Legion team.
Mac married Teresa Calhoun on April 14, 1950. They have three children, four grand children and three great-grand children. One granddaughter is a missionary in Costa Rica.
