Keith Pascal (Pat) Ingram

2004 Effingham County Sports Hall of Fame Inductee

 

 

            Keith was born on November 21, 1921.  He attended Gadsden High School in Gadsden, Alabama.  He played basketball and football for two years in high school.  He received Honorable Mention All-State Football as an end.

            He attended Newberry College in Newberry, South Carolina (1938-1943) on a scholarship for football and baseball.  He lettered in track, football, and baseball his sophomore, junior and senior years.  In 1942, his baseball team won the South Caroline State Championship.  His position was centerfield. He graduated from Newberry College with a Major in Math and a Minor in Science.

            In 1944, he was 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Air Force.  In 1946-47, he played centerfield with the Springfield town team. 1947-1955, he played semi-pro baseball in the Ogeechee League for a Sylvania team. He played for Greenville in the Ogeechee League in 1955-56.         

            In 1956, he helped form little league baseball in Springfield.  He coached a little league team from 1956-1966.  His greatest rewards for coaching were the love and respect of the boys that he coached.

            In 1966, he was transferred to Prattville, Alabama where he still resides.  He retired in 1972.

            He has 4 children, 9 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.  He attends church in Prattville.

 His love of coaching has been passed on to many others including former players, his children and his grandchildren of whom many have become coaches themselves.
