Roy C. Nease, Sr.

2004 Effingham County Sports Hall of Fame Inductee

Roy was born January 31, 1924. Roy married Norene H. Sessions on July 22, 1950. They had two sons, Roy C. Nease, Jr. and his spouse LaNora Nease and Norman A. Nease and his spouse Marice J. Nease. Roy has 5 grandchildren, Daniel Nease, Chris Nease, Brent Nease, Casey Nease and Justin Nease. Roy has 2 great-grandchildren, Abby Nease and Mason Nease.

Roy started playing and coaching softball for boys and girls on the Zion Lutheran Church League of Effingham County. Roy played for 14 years. Roy helped the boys that played ball to build the Oakridge Ball Park that Mr. Wesley and Mrs. Ruth Conaway donated the land for. They cut down oak trees and dug up old stomps. Roy was elected to play in the All-Star games between North and South Effingham. There where a 1000 people there for the All-Star games. Roy knocked the ball over the fence many times. All the teams enjoyed the games even if they got beat. Roy really enjoyed playing ball.
