Tex Kieffer Rahn

2005 Effingham County Sports Hall of Fame Inductee

 

 

Born on December 2, 1940.

Son of Ralph and Daisy Rahn and father of Ralph Theron Rahn and Kevin Michael Rahn

 

Tex attended Carlisle Military School for his junior and senior year from 1957-1958 where he graduated. While at Carlisle, Tex played basketball at the guard position and he was also captain of the team his senior year. He also average 21 points per game his senior year.  He also played baseball both years as a pitcher, 2nd baseman and 3rd baseman.  Also during Tex’s junior and senior years at Carlisle, he made the Block “C” Club in baseball.  This honor is limited to those who have received their block letter in major sports such as baseball, basketball, and or football.

 

Here is Effingham County, Tex played baseball from 1958-1961 with the Effingham Crackers and in 1962 played with the Pineora team where he played 2nd, 3rd, and pitcher.  His talent as a fielded and contact hitter earned him a spot on the All Star team.  Pineora Ball Park was later named after Tex in his honor in June of 1964.

 

Tex as equally talented and played basketball with the same drive and enthusiasm that he applied in all sports.  Voted Team Player with Town team in Guyton, Tex played from 1960 until 1962.

 

Tex was a great athlete.

 

Tex died on May 27, 1963.
